Meet 'De Gezonde Stad' (Healthy City), a nonprofit organisation which initiates and facilitates local projects with citizens, local governments and local businesses. In this workshop you can experience how one of our projects ‘The Zero Waste Lab’ works! Our first Zero Waste Lab opened in the east of Amsterdam. It functions as a laboratory where citizens get value coins for the waste they hand in. The local businesses that join, give a discount on products in return. The waste will be upcycled and recycled. In this way De Gezonde Stad together with residents, companies and the municipality, works on a circular economy on a micro level in Amsterdam. In this workshop you will find out how the Zero Waste Lab works by participating yourself and we will discuss with you our results, ambitions and challenges. Join us!
We will gather at the office of De Gezonde Stad: SB-3/SB-5a.

The Dagomba tribe in Ghana, Africa has an ancient tradition of sharing. It is their belief that we are all brothers and sisters; and family takes care of each other. Traditional Dagomba live in an inclusive society. Land is considered not be owned, it is to be preserved for future generations. But tradition is dying and fertility of the land is declining.
With Leap into Life we combine ancient wisdom with modern social technologies to create a Sharing Economy; in Ghana, but also in the Netherlands. What is an inclusive society and why is that important for us, living in the West? What can we learn, and contribute to a reality where we share and pass on to the next generations?
In this session Alain Volz will share some of his experiences as a Westerner ‘adopted’ by the Dagomba tribe. From there we will do an inquiry with the questions above.

Making social impact more tangible with Crosswise Works
Often, people mistake social impact for having a positive influence on others. So when you position introduce as an impact entrepreneur, people might tell you that all entrepreneurs make an impact every now and then. “Yeah, this guy sold me a phone. I’m happy with it, so he made an impact.” That’s not what you mean, is it? But then, what DO you exactly mean with social impact?
During these 45 minutes we’ll take a deep dive into the raison d'être of impact entrepreneurs: social impact. As social impact is often pretty hard to grasp, we’ll help you develop skills to make the social impact of your enterprise a little bit more tangible for your investors, for your customers, but most of all: for you as an entrepreneur.
We’ll help you to answer important questions. What is it that you wish to accomplish? And how do you operationalize it? How to choose the right indicators? How can you measure your social impact? How to make your impact story clear?
We’ll particularly focus on social impact in emerging markets, because, well, that’s what we like to do.

Linda Vermaat and Erik Loots are convinced that entrepreneurship will solve most of our global challenges. In the beginning of 2016 they started Twentie Four, an international documentary series and in 2017 a Youtube channel. They are following 24 impact entrepreneurs in 24 cities worldwide for 24 hours. Pioneers, greedy for a kind of world where obvious issues such as climate change, gender inequality and poverty are tackled. Get a first glimpse of the documentary and engage in a Q&A with these two filmmakers.
About the makers
Linda started the slow food Youth Food Movement NL and founded Professional Rebel to ignite the rebel mind-set within large organisations. Erik studied film in Brussels and Amsterdam and has visualised stories for Adidas, MTV and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
